I had loaded all my mp3 albums onto my iPhone 12 pro max, and now after updating ios 16 and ready to load a some new albums, I find my whole library is gone, what happened?

This was all my music loaded onto my phone from an external hard drive, not streamed from apple music. I do not use streaming music services.

Where did you have it saved? In Files? Do you have iCloud turned on and setup correctly?

I also notice there is no option in the music settings for icloud music to be synced or tuned on.

Only music in your Apple Music can be synced as far as I'm aware... Was your music on your device or in the cloud? If it was on the cloud it should still be accessible.

I thought it was just on my device, as far as apple music, the only way I can see anymore is if I click to join apple music. Is joining apple music the only way I can now access any of my music that might be in the cloud?
