As you can see in the photos to the right hand side camera lens, there is a hairline kinda light scratch. I see when I take photos image quality is just fine but maybe under different lighting scratch can be an issue? How bad is the scratch? Will the lens fall off at some point? Should I return the phone for a replacement or don’t worry about it?

How bad is the scratch? > Bad | EDIT: bad enough to not accept it in a newly bought phone
Will the lens fall off at some point? > No
Should I return the phone for a replacement? > Yes

What he said! The camera is one of the most important parts and it’s compromised. Could have some weird flare issues at night or day that isn’t apparent now. Why bother - send this one back!

It doesn't matter how bad it actually is. IMHO any kind of scratch on the cameras is unacceptable for a newly bought phone (even refurbished). If a return is possible, don't risk anything.

Apple store refurbs have brand new outside casings and screens, this would never happen with an official Apple refurb product.

Now if its ebay/amazon or anyone else "refurbishing", thats probably what you can expect.

It's simply used, not refurbished in any way.

Thanks. I’ll return this one.
Somehow I read online that any scratch on the outside exterior “lens” should be fine as the actual iPhone camera lens are actually inside the phone past the iPhone “sapphire” exterior so not worry about the scratch. Hmmm?
