I literally tried that feature once on my Series 5 and never again. Feels kind of gimmicky to me to be honest. The only feature missing from the SE that would keep me from getting one is the always on display.

Agreed completely. I actually was surprised how much I appreciate the always-on-display now that I have a Series 9 (Upgraded from a 4). The SE is still a heck of a deal at that price, and honestly a no-brainer for almost anyone with an iPhone/in the Apple ecosystem. My wife has an SE and it works great for her. 99% of the same functionality of the series 9.
