Hi

Got a new Gigabyte M32U (4k/144hz/IPS) monitor today and was all excited about it after initial usage and testing and firmware updating and overall enjoyment in Windows 11..

...but then I get to macOS

And I'm stuck at no more than 98hz, and I can't figure out the why/how other than it seems like maybe DSC is broken?

HDR is off and I have a correct DP 1.4 cable (have tried a couple just in case) and -- full 10bit/144/4k is working great in Windows 11

Does anyone have any tips or thoughts here?

Are folks getting above 98hz in macOS with their AMD GPUs somehow?

Thank you!

Hi there,

Not a desktop but on my AMD 16" MBP I get 120hz at 4k. Scaled to 1080p. latest macOS 12.3.1

Well - the frustration grows.

With a Monoprice USB-C to DisplayPort adapter (https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=35503), using my wife's MBA M1, this monitor gets full 4k/144hz in macOS.

Same DisplayPort cable I'm using to go right into my RX 6800, just plugged into her MBA M1 with a DP to USB-C adapter.

That same adapter plugged into the USB-C port on my RX 6800 just gives a black screen, with an occasional flash of the desktop -- but something not right there.

So -- I'm not really sure.
This seems like a software/hardware identification issue with macOS maybe.

I think I shared this with you in another thread, but I can get 4/120 with my 6900 as per this thread (reposting here in case it's useful for others):

You’re fine I do 164 hz on a RX 580 and 2 LG Ultrasync 32GN600B… the cable has a lot to do with it… I had HDMI 2.0b rated cables that wouldn’t do HDR or 1440p 140hz… they should…

Any special settings?

I literally just copied that other post verbatim (the SwitchResX settings) and it worked!
But I have no clue what most of it means or how to adjust it up for 144hz (my monitor max)
