iTunes 8 no longer keeps old versions in the Mobile Applications folder, moving them to Recycle Bin (Trash) automatically after every update.
However, this doesn't apply to the apps that were updated in iTunes 7, so many users probably have lots of disk space wasted by those old apps.

There's an easy way to get rid of those old apps. It seems so obvious, but there're still people complaining about this issue, so I thought I'd share it. I tried that on Windows, but on a Mac it should be similar:

  1. Create a new folder and name it, e.g., "My Apps"
  2. Go to Applications in iTunes and select all
  3. Drag the apps into "My Apps" folder
  4. Go to Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications and delete everything
  5. Open "My Apps" folder and move everything to Mobile Applications
  6. Delete "My Apps" folder

That's it :)

Oh thanks for that!

I was going round, finding each version of the app, deleting all old versions, and it was quite a tedious process!

Shame I've just completed it, mind you.... This would have been so much quicker & easier :mad::mad:

Oh well.

Already did this when iTunes 8 came out, but I'd like to confirm this works like a charm, and it takes about 30 seconds depending on your app load.

Hope that helps! ;)
