Any Pixel Corps members?

I have been looking into joining the Pixel Corps for quite some time and was wondering if anybody was currently a member or knows anybody who is a part of it? I am a little reluctant to join because it is $150 for 3 months of membership and I really don't have much money nowadays being in college and all. I am mainly looking into it to meet some people to work on projects with. I really want some real world experience outside of what I have learned in the classrooms of my university. Any insight would be great!
