Also, once a virus gains control of XP (hypothetically) it could reformat the hard disk (not just the XP volume but the whole drive), thus erasing the Mac side along with everything else.

Or, someone could build HFS support into a virus (other Windows software supports HFS already) and thus could read and modify Mac files.

I'm not aware of any current viruses that erase hard drives, and HFS support is unlikely to be worth the bother for a virus-writer. But these are technically possible, I believe.

I know I'll be a lot happier if I boot to Windows WITHOUT an Internet connection :) Which I can do as long as I don't want multiplayer games. Even patches I can download: I just download them from OS X and then later install them under XP while offline.

(I would like XP to test web sites I build, so I'm thinking I might as well grab Need For Speed Most Wanted too!)

I think you guys are being a little hard on XP... I have only had a handful viruses over the years... Sure Mac OSX is MUCH better. (That is why I am switching over)

But come on... It is not nearlt as bad as you are making it out to be...

Staying off porn sites and hacking sites will usually keep your computer safe...
