Hey guys,

My app is almost complete and I wanted your opinion on landing pages and websites as a form of app marketing. Looking at the top paid and unpaid apps, most of them (>75%) of them have landing pages. I can see one simple benefit of having landing pages which is just another post and reference to your app and that would be make your app easier to find. However, is that all there is to it?

Also, how much would it cost to create a decent looking landing page or website for my app? After a quick browse, there are specialist websites that focus on creating landing pages for app owners such as http://www.appsadvanced.com
They are a relatively new business but apparently they are currently running a pre-launch strategy to build up their portfolio and testimonials. After emailing them, they replied saying that they could possibly do a landing page for my upcoming app for 20% of their normal price with a 100% money back guarantee if I don't like the end product (which sounds pretty good to me). However, they are quite new and I've always been a bit reluctant buying online.

So in summary, I guess my questions are:
- Are landing pages worth it?
- What is your opinion on Apps Advanced?
- What are some other ways of marketing your app?

I look forward to hearing from you

Cheers,

You can often set up a simple landing page for free on a blog site, or very cheaply on some domain hosting/parking sites.

Without a landing page, it's hard to do any web search keyword optimization for your app. Another advantage to hosting your own app landing page on your own (hosted or vps) server is that you can do statistical A/B testing on different app icons and screenshots to see what gets the best response.

I would never use a new (paid) site unless they were already ranked high according to independant web traffic metrics.

I truly think landing pages are very important for an APP. This just my opinion of course. But on the marketing side I wouldn't have an APP without one.

So what was there price and what was included?

BTW, what is a landing page?

I've heard about pages where if you have trouble with the app, it goes the a web page where you can get help before leaving neg feedback.

My guess it's when people search for your app, they go to a landing page instead of straight to the App Store. So it's just a spot where you can have more info/screen shots/support... for your app.

How is this different from the web page Apple requires in the App Store.
