My 6 month old MAxtor One touch Turbo 600GB HD died yesterday. Disk utility says this:
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Invalid B-tree node size
Volume check failed.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)

Repair attempted on 1 volume
0 HFS volumes repaired
1 volume could not be repaired

I need to recover some info, please help. Can i run fsck over the external HD?
What app would do the trick?

You might try DiskWarrior...

fsck is the utility that is the back-end of Disk Utility's repair... if disk utility doesn't solve the problem, fsck probably also will not. Although you should be able to fsck any disk that is not the boot drive.
