This is just an FYI if anyone is interested. I have read on the internet in a lot of places how you cannot configure an older airport express A1264 model with newer versions of the Apple Airport Utility, but this doesn't seem to be the case. I was just able to plug in my older A1264 and after resetting it, it showed up on my 2015 MacBook Pro running 12.5 Monterey in Airport Utility 6.3.9 and I was able to configure it no problem. Interestingly enough, it did NOT show up on my iPhone airport utility until I had configured it using my MacBook Pro and then it showed up on both utilities.
Anyways, hope this helps someone out there.
