Of course they should. "People" have the freedom to quit and go work at another company, for whatever reason. That's a basic human right. But, why would "people" have the right to determine which other individuals the company hires? Which human right is that?
A person's right to be a jerk ends when it impacts others. they can be the biggest jerk off of company time, however, Ii a person proves to be toxic in an organization it's certainly the person's coworker's right to complain and ask the company to fix the problem. The company can chose what to do up to firing them.

As for hiring, I've done plenty of fit interviews to see if someone should be hired.

First of all, putting people in quotes is weird af. Second of all, the company decided to listen to it's employees, and lose one "person", instead of a bunch of people. Why should normals have to find another job? Let the douchebag deal with the consequences of it's actions. Not people.

However, in both cases they are used a pejorative terms to attack another group. I doubt right wingers calling people socialists consider it a lot less of a pejorative than Nazi, though oddly enough, the Nazis were socialists.

More to the point: Why do you keep arguing that a person should bear no personal responsibility or consequences for their own action?
Nazis were not socialists.. national socialism is extreme love for one's nation. I am an authoritarian fascist myself, but I follow the Italian concept, not Hitlerian.

People do dumb stuff
People often regret doing dumb stuff.

Firing people for dumb stuff they did years ago, whilst not employed with your company is also doing dumb stuff.
Tell to me please, what if employee doesn't want to take the "genocidal poison" ? You know what I mean.. just can't say it here.

Writing a book voicing dumb opinions and then being surprised when you don’t get to be a manager who has power to act on those opinions is also kinda dumb.

The only surprise here is that Apple HR didn’t notice sooner.

This is fake outrage and bullshìt. By this "logic," any actor who plays a misogynistic character in a movie should never work again.

I've worked at a number of workplaces where people's views were all across the spectrum; we simply followed the adage "keep politics out of the workplace and don't spout off stuff that can blowback" and everyone was fine.

And as much as people want to make it a left wing phenomena it's not; the right is happy to fire or silence people as well.

This is fake outrage and bullshìt.

A practice both sides of the political spectrum indulge in.

By this "logic," any actor who plays a misogynistic character in a movie should never work again.

(Most) People can distinguish acting from someone's real world persona.

The human rights of… lemme guess, a healthy work environment, combined with free speech and this little thing called “power in numbers”? And hey, they didn't even have to unionise. :p

So a character in a novel created an "unhealthy work environment?"

And "power in numbers" has resulted in all kinds of atrocities, from mass murder to gang rape to the degradation of entire nations. But hey, keep cheerleading for it, you inclusive warrior you. ??

Good Job Apple! People like that don’t belong to work for a company like Apple.
? ?

My god... its like everyone ganging up on you to get busted. Why even put it to a vote? Its not like an employee will change the companies answer

Have a discussion about it, but ultimatly its doens't matter who votes or not, it comes to to what the boss wants.
