I recently received a notice that my Mac Air had been hacked and that I should reset passwords. I did that and somehow I lost the new password for unlocking screen. Now I was told I can reset using my Apple I.D... Now can't that to work so I must have the I.D. and password wrong. Is there a number at Apple where I can get help resetting all these ? Thank you.

Sound like phishing - the “notice” you got was a scam, and you’ve apparently lost access to your Apple ID.

First try iforgot.apple.com - if it’s not accepting your “trusted phone number” then the ID is well & truly lost.

To reach Apple, start at https://getsupport.apple.com

I guess I can't follow your advice ragarding iforgot... because I can't get to a screen where I can get on the web. Thanks for responding though. I'll try the other advice maybe on my phone.
