they made 10,000 of these

and if it has the orig mobo (ROM 00) then its not worth a whole lot. itd be worth more with a ROM 03 board in it

What does the 03 have, I would normally think a first would be worth more.

well it might be worth more in the future for collectors reasons- but theres a ton of these flotaing around still

from a functionalist standpoint 01 and 03 are far superior
. A IIGS is categorized by the ROM it uses, either 00,01, or 03. The 128k GS ROM 00 was included in the first IIGSes often with the limited edition "Woz" signature on the front. It was later upgraded to the ROM 01 which is needed to run the latest software. The next major revision, was the ROM 3. This included a larger 256k ROM, more expandable RAM, better support for the disabled, quieter sound support, different slot capabilities, and the ability to run GS/OS and GS/OS programs faster
the case is worth more to collectors than the innards at this point. if theres still packaging materials then the value goes way up

Rom 01

I just checked, this one is Rom 01. If you open it up the date on the inside is 8709...one of the first made I believe. Strangely, the serial # for this machine is E71000PA2S6000. Perhaps it was one of the first (or the 1000th?) does anybody know how they issue serial #'s? I know the A2S6000 signifies the model #.

Oh, PS - this is now listed on eBay, item# 5723800183.
