This is a drop in the bucket compared to changing the habits of billions of wasteful people and bad industrial practices while clearing nature to build more stuff while already-built stuff just sits unused.

Well said. But many drops fill a bucket.
Lead by example. Nothing wrong with that.

By fancy packaging do you mean this recycled cardboard with almost no plastic stuff in the box?

As much as I love supporting the environment, why doesn't Apple throw some money at Blender.org so they (the Blender foundation) can put development into the M1 and Metal? It, too, is a non-prof with many other major players contributing annually to it.

And why would Apple want to do that? What’s Apple’s benefit in the medium or long run?

If Apple died tomorrow nothing bad would happen. Someone else would step in and take their place. Plenty of tech companies have failed over the years and the world keeps turning.

Absolutely nothing bad could happen if a company with 100000 employees and probably a twentyfold of partners and suppliers goes out of business.

Thanks for that well thought through analysis.
