Universal Apple Mail vs MS Outllook

I saw that Microsoft Outlook is available, and I wonder if it's any good. Of course, I already know that it can't do the date on the home screen, since that seems to a trade secret of Apple.

It's decent if you use an Exchange account for your email, contacts and calendars. The contacts and calendars aspects won't work with CardDAV and CalDAV…the protocols used by most (if not all) non-Exchange email providers.
