Hey everyone, I just noticed that there are two ways to get music from the Apple Music app on my Mac to my AirPods:

When connected directly to the AirPods, music sounds better than with the Computer > AirPods option. Does anyone have any idea why this is? It's not awful when using the Computer > AirPods option; that method just has a slightly lower volume and seems like it has less clarity with things like cymbals.

This is not an earth-shattering issue, but it's driving me crazy because it makes no sense (to me).

Thanks!

Have you checked the volume in each instance? Apple devices remember the volume setting for external audio. So maybe the computer sets a different volume for your AirPods than Apple Music does.
