Apparently only the print version of The New Yorker is included with Apple News+, and not any of the daily online content. This website shows 2019 tweets from The New Yorker's editor explaining the differences. To get all of the content, you would still need a subscription.

This has been my impression as well. The New Yorker website itself will allow you to view a small number of articles each month for free, so that does give you some ability to view the other content.
