iPad air 5th gen release date in March 2022

15" m2 Macbook Air release date in June 2023

The 15"m2 Macbook Air showed up in apple's refurbished store about
3 months after its initial release yet the 5th gen iPad Air which was
released 15 months BEFORE the 15” m2 Macbook Air still hasn't shown
up in the apple refurbished store - why is that??

Because the availability of refurb products has nothing to do with normal market factors. Keep in mind refurb products negatively affect Apple's bottom line. Used/refurb products put downward pressure on Apple product prices.

It's only after Apple has allocated sufficient quantities for warranty and AppleCare replacements, do they determine whether to sell refurbs. In some cases, they don't want to depress market prices. This is why you don't see popular devices like 128GB/256GB iPhone 14 Pro/Max in the refurb store at all, even though they are the most popular devices as new.

I also think the USA and Canada refurb stores are quite different. The iPhone only came to the Canada refurb store about a year ago. In addition to this, the Canada refurb store does not carry the HomePod or the Watch.
