This is kind of an odd bug.

Not sure where would be the best place to report this, but wanted to post it to see if anyone else is having this issue with the Apple TV app.

The Apple TV app displays the wrong cover art for certain titles when language set for English.

Titles affected:

Doubt (German version)
Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (Spanish version)
The Getaway - 1972 (Spanish version)
Gods and Generals (Spanish version)
Man of the Year (Spanish version)
The Man Who Knew Too Little - 1997 (Spanish version)
Police Academy 6 (Swedish version)
Pushing Tin (Spanish version)
Quiz Show (Spanish version)
The Water Horse:Legend of the Deep (Spanish version)

Wrong Movie version of cover art used:

Fever Pitch - Theatrical Version (shows unrated version)

Not necessarily a bug, but inconsistent to most movie art used:

Bedknobs and Broomsticks (shows Family Movie Night version)
Ernest Goes to Jail (incorrectly cropped poster)
The Kid from Left Field (incorrectly cropped poster)
The Pitcher and the Pin-Up (incorrectly cropped poster)
Police Academy (incorrectly cropped poster)
Police Academy 5 (incorrectly cropped poster)
Those Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies (incorrectly cropped poster)
We Are Marshall (incorrrectly cropped poster)
Young Einstein (incorrectly cropped poster)

Goal and Goal II, Naked Gun trilogy sort order also wrong

Wrong Movie version of cover art used:

Not exactly sure what "wrong" means. Right movie, "wrong" artwork? Artwork from a different movie? Some movies have a lot of different cover art available. Not sure what the rules are - when they do a new release in the same format? Blu-Ray release? 4K release? Remaster? ... I assume it gets even more convoluted when we add language versions.

Above is a partial list of the available covers for this movie in a Plex editor. All of them were "wrong" for me as I wanted the exact media cover so I had to add it manually:

How to Train You Dragon (2014).jpg

Unfortunately it looks as if you can't edit them in iTunes, and I assume it is the same case on the Apple TV.

Finally, I‘m not the only person with this issue.
I have already contacted Apple support about this and they are working on it since 2 weeks without solving it.

Btw. Is it just happening on your Apple TV or on your iPhone as well?

To give everyone a better idea what this is about: here are some examples of at least the cover arts in a different language.

Thanks for the images.

But I still don't understand

The Apple TV app displays the wrong cover art

given that there can be many cover versions for a specific title why are these covers wrong? Wrong language? Covers are for different movies?

In my pictures you can see the title of the movie/show as displayed in the TV app (iOS or TVOS) on top of the actual picture (note: I'm on the US store)
However, since Apple introduced the TV app in iOS 12.3 many covers are just wrong.
The pictures I have posted are an example of the wrong languages - Apple just seems to match the movie incorrectly, e.g. the movie "Inside Out" should show the cover art with the same title and not the spanish version "Intensa Mente"

But, as bluemcduff already stated, this is just one of the issues. Extended / Unrated versions show the standard version and so on.
In the dedicated Movie or TV Shows app on Apple TV or even iTunes, the old and correct cover arts are still present, so this is clearly an issue with the TV app

Apple recently „updated“ some coverart, now „Pan‘s Labyrinth“ shows up as „O Labirinto Do Fauno“.
Also „Philadelphia“ has been changed to „Filadelfia“

The TV app now sometimes shows different art work on iPhone and Apple TV.
Seriously, with this mismatch and the other art work they now use (it just simply looks cheap), the TV app is just a major step back. Still can‘t believe this isn‘t a bug...
