I know there's a handful of people with older HDTV's (like me) that aren't capable of displaying 720p (or internally upscaling it to 1080i).That being said, I couldn't find anything in regards to 1080i.

My question is does the :apple:tv upscale 720p to 1080i for box's not capable of displaying 720p (or it doesn't even have the capability of outputing 1080i?)

There is a option to select your tv resolution.

Which resolutions you can select is up in the air as it's not mentioned in the manual. Might have to wait for someone to look and post the results.

Yea you have that option like in the PS3 as well being able to chose what resolutions your TV can display, then it'll upscale 720p content to 1080i. I’m really hoping it's similar on :apple: tv.

It seems it supports the following:

720p
1080i
480p
720p - 50 HZ
1080i - 50 HZ
576P - 50 HZ

Might be more but thats where the SS ends.
