iLife needs a reboot for today's world. Apple seems to be unfocused and unmotivated with their 1st party apps. These used to be a huge feature and selling point for consumer class computers. iDVD, iWeb, GarageBand, iMovie, iPhotoThey capitalized on cultural zeitgeist of the Mac as the "hub of your digital life". They answered the question "how can Apple's software help people use their new devices to make the kind of stuff people are looking at in the 1990s and early 2000s (websites, DVDs, printables, multimedia) so cool and shareable that it makes others want to get a Mac?"

I think they need to be updated to the stuff that consumers want to do TODAY. A lot of this means social posting.
eg. iPhoto could include stickers, filters, text overlays, animated GIFS, short videos.Make it *the* best way of making the best TikTok and Instagram content (or whatever comes after)

All AppleArcade games should include recording of the Player using picture-in-picture for Twitch/YouTube Game Streaming with AR avatar head replacement, voice filters, text and logo overlays like OBS, tipping. Make the 6 year olds watching DakBlake, KindlyKeyin and FGTEEV into content creators by making it so simple even they could do it.

eg. GarageBand could do a better job of managing the entirePodcast workflow. Apple has GarageBand for recording podcasts, We're paying them for hosting with iCloud, they have Podcasts App for the discovery "store" and payment processing for patrons or premium content.FaceTime could stitch together remote guests. There's no reason why podcasts need to be as complicated as they are. (I know they're relatively simple, but they could be much simpler).

Some update of MacPaint with prompts and contests, galleries, and focus on Meme Making (maybe built-in ever updating templates. 1 button posting to your favourite social site).

Sharable content that's aspirational. Everyone who sees it should think that they need a Mac or iDevice for their software so they can make their stuff look this cool too.

Maybe Keynote indexes higher on output for YouTube presentations. Maybe iWebor Pages is updated to more blog-like content.

This is all a bit prescriptive, but the larger point is that Apple's 1st party apps are feeling dusty, content is infinitely more shareable now than it used to be, there are billions of content creators, and Apple's software should be helping us everyone all make that stuff as easily and beautifully as possible.
