The Upside Down
A couple rumors are pointing to the third week of September for Apple's iPhone special event. However, assuming that Apple continues to hold their events on a Tuesday, that'd mean it would fall on the same day as Governor Newsom's recall election (9/14). Surely Apple wouldn't announce their latest flagship iPhone on same the day as the recall election (to avoid having to compete with the election in the news)? Or would they?

or.... people will be paying attention to the Apple event and forget to vote in the recall....

most people have almost forgotten about the biggest news right before the Taliban toppled the Afghan government.... it's about the governor of another huge state.

The iPhone event is seen by many people around the world. It has always been an international event.
Why would they care about an election in California?

In addition to that, I don't think that it will be a live event with any press at the Apple theather. It will probably be a pre-recorded livestream like the last few events...Corona is still not over - Delta is coming now.
