AppleTV 4K Requires Reboot to use in entertainment system

I’m using a Sony TV, a Yamaha receiver, and a Harmony universal remote with my Apple TV 4K. I have to reboot the Atv every time I use another setting such as cable TV. Checked all connections, updates software on each piece of equipment, changed HDMI, and with the help of Apple support replaced the Apple TV. First day it worked fine but today, the second day, the problem persists. I keep Apple TV on and when selected, it doesn’t get a signal. Some people say they have that problem with Samsung TVs, but I’m having this same problem with Sony TV. Any tips?

This kind of thing is often caused by HDMI handshake issues. Are you piping the HDMI video through the Yamaha AVR? If so, trying turning off the AVR for a few seconds and then back on when you get the dark screen. Changing the order in which you switch things on could also help.
