Carrier AT&T Upgrade Swap

Hey everyone. I have an upgrade on a line that does not need one and I am going to try to use that upgrade to upgrade my line which is not eligible...anyone try this before? I have heard it works fine but you need to do it at a AT&T store...anyone know if AT&T stores usually have a good stick of phones on launch day and how busy they are? Thinking about getting to a store at like 5am but I don't know if that will be early enough...
