When I plug a soundbar into my Mac Mini M2 via HDMI it changes to resolution on my 4K monitor to 1080. As you can imagine this is not ideal. Any ideas for a fix or just an explanation would be most helpful. Many thanks.

It’s a Samsung HW-K850.
I’m running OS 14 Sonoma.
Other than two HDMI ports it has an AUX.
I read something somewhere about HDMI 2 being the issue - it’s a 5 or 6 years old.
I have an AUX cable arriving tomorrow and I’m hoping that will work. Not the same quality I know, but it’s sitting right behind my monitor… I’m not an audiophile and it’s never going to be played loud, so it should be fine.
That being said, It would be nice to have it right.
