Resolved .avi videos in Mavericks.

Hi!
I have some .avi vids in my MacBook Pro, mid-2012, 13" (i.e. The conjuring). I installed DivX player as recommended by Apple, but I still can't hear the audio. The conjuring with no audio? No way! (and I'd really like to watch the movie -for the eighth time- today, because it's going to be windy and rainy and I'd love to scare my brother )

What can I do?

You can also use Handbrake and convert it to mp4

What do you mean? Speakers output?
I can listen to music, and watch YouTube and .mov videos without any problems. Only the .avi has no sound.
