Resolved AW5 Connects to iPhone in Airplane Mode

Anyone else having this issue?
I first noticed it when I got notifications while on airplane mode and thought I didn’t tap the right icon in the control panel.When I tap to airplane mode, it disconnects from the iPhone and then reconnects about a minute later.
I have a genius bar appointment for 10/2. Repairing did not fix the issue. Setting up as new didn't either.

Side note: I use airplane mode to save battery when it’s low to get through the day. Did it all the time with AW3, no issue.
