that should make you afraid of the country we live in if he gets banned from Twitter. just bc you don't like him, doesn't mean he should get banned.
No, but hate speech and lies should.

Also, why would one be "afraid of the country" should a private media company say "Nah - we're not letting this moron post **** on our platform any more"?

I think you are under the misapprehension that "Freedom of speech" comes with an obligation for the media to publish whatever rubbish someone says and for other people to have to listen to it.

Your friendly reminder that even Apple has a political agenda.
I'm looking forward with Oprah's interview with Trump... oh wait... that's not happening? ...weird...
I have absolutely no interest in watching this interview, and honestly think it’s a poor choice by Apple to go this route for programming.

But that said, do you really honestly think Trump would accept an interview request from Oprah? We’re talking about someone who literally walks out on 60 Minutes mid-interview...

No, thanks! Left-wing propaganda is everywhere in the media, movies and pop culture these days, and stuff like this makes me want Apple TV less and less. I can guarantee that there will be no republican programming on Apple TV, only by and for Democrats. Where is the balance?

Personally I want hard politics out of movies and pop culture, both left-wing/democrat and right-wing. This one-sided liberal and progressive preaching everywhere in the media is pretty much a brain washing operation at this point, so more and more people are tuning out. Not a good long-term business model...

trump is too stupid to do a real interview. And...too fragile.
Im wrong, you say? Give me one example where he had an intelligent conversation...with anyone...and answered real questions.
His interviews were reasonably ok before the presidency - when he had the license to say what he wants and think what he wants as a civilian. He catered to an audience, as they say. As a president, he had to raise his standard, which he didn't and became whiny. In a letterman interview which I just saw randomly, he called mafia folks nice, as long as you don't owe them money. You can say that as a civilian, on a comedy show. Can't be calling "some" white supremacists nice as a president in a press conference.

There certainly are a lot of sad, negative people on the forums tonight.

Obama, while not nearly liberal enough for my tastes, is easily the best president we’ve had in modern times and is one of the best we’ve ever had.

I look forward to seeing what President Biden will do once the secret service escorts the one-term impeached clown out of there.
I know. I couldn't believe my eyes. Thought I was reading forums posts from bots or paid shills. We all need to educate ourselves on what really happened these last four years, because it's amazing how many people have normalized his disgusting behavior and have collective short term memory.

That’s not correct. You are referring to the “good people on both sides” hoax perpetrated by the media. Trump never praised Antifa and white supremacists. You can fact check that by going to the original news conference video on YouTube. Trump was talking about the people who were protesting for or against the removal of historical statues in public areas, but the media willingly took this quote out of context and misrepresented it.

Unfortunately the democrat/left-wing media lies all the time (CNN, NYT, NBC, MSNBC etc.) in their crusade to take down president Trump, and mainstream media in general is in an awful state these days.

It really is no surprise considering how much the right wing media, conservatives, republicans and Trump have tried to villify Obama that people actually believe what they type here.

Obama is going to jail.
Multiple counts of federal crime. Y'all see
Ok when is this supposed to happen or is it one of those Q-style things that never comes to pass and everyone is supposed to ignore that you're literally always wrong, after the fact?

This will not happen. Too many people are LARPing reality, it's creepy.

Obama is an american president. Trump is an american president. In a sensible country you don't have people braying at the moon when an ex priminister or president gets a small degree of media coverage. People interview our political class outside of office ALL the time. Even politicians I disagree with (and that's a lot of them) have points worth listening to.

The people who refuse to engage with any topic whatsoever, and put it in a box with "left wing stuff" and "right wing stuff" are the problem here. You all live in the same damn country. There are not "left wing social issues." What you consider to be "hard politics" I fully expect are not, in fact hard politics at all, in so much as everything is political if you look at it through a certain lens.

I agree the media is a mess though.

I agree that what he said was being taken out of context. All politicians get quoted out of context, including Trump and Biden both. What I am saying is that as a president he shouldn't have said it at all. That's the point of my OP in the context of what he says when he interacts with media. Somehow his pressers always seem to devolve in a state of frenzy. But maybe that's a strategy too, because what he says is defensible enough for his supporters, and controversial enough for his opponents. Media must surely love that.

On the last point, media is truly in an awful state across the board. Can't argue there.

BOOOO! Not a fan of this at all!! Apple should stay out of politics. There is already the perception that Apple is left leaning and hostile to conservative voices, this just makes that worse. (plus Jon Stewart). You all know how much of a fan I am of TV+, but I will not abide by overt politically liberal/progressive content peddled in my face.

Oprah has been promoting scammers and charlatans on her show for years and years. I don’t watch things like this or Goop or Dr Oz or Jerry Springer. It’s all very low IQ Idiocracy stuff. That also goes for The Apprentice btw.
I am a massive fan of McConaughey though and his interview with Oprah on TV+ was "alright, alright, alright." He's a bit ego-centric, but I thought he had some life insights which were helpful.

This story is beyond bizarre. It's so completely random... that I can't believe it actually happened.

Given Apple's obvious political leanings, it's surprizing to me (having no horse in this race whatsoever) that any supporters of the right would even deign to use Apple products. *shrug*

FWIW, I'll watch this. He's an exceptionally intelligent guy, and deserving of some respect. I'm interested in hearing what he has to say.
On the above paragraph that I edited to boldface --

One explanation is the existing homogeneity of political viewpoint in the industry and its followers. Is there anywhere for "those on the right" to realistically go? The big players explicitly and/or implicitly are on the same team.

For those who can accomplish what they need to in Linux, although it hasn't been completely subsumed, the progression towards ideological absolutism, "silence is violence" and *agree or else* is steadily moving along. I don't know BSD's status.

I assume (supported by only limited evidence) that "those on the right" restrict, as best they can, financially supporting those with "Apple's obvious political leanings", but they need tech to get things done. They face unpleasant, unavoidable choices. It is what it is.

Maybe not, but I don't think it'd be because of Trump. Oprah is a mouthpiece of the left.
