My battery is cleary plugged in the wall and in the computer, but the battery logo at the top right of the screen has an X on it and it says no batteries available. I'd love to be able to unplug this thing without having it shut down on me.

Am I missing an option to turn on or something? I get don't get it.

Try shutting down the mac, removing the part, and putting it back it. I have had that happen to a few of my PC notebooks in the past, and it fixed the problem. Never had it on my Mac though...
