Would like to have a quick advice.

I'm currently have an Ipad 4 Wifi version with IOS 6.1.

As more and more apps not able to run on IOS 6, I plan to upgrade it to IOS 8 and jailbreak it.

What is the recommendation IOS 8 version for the Ipad 4 Wifi as I found some user complain IOS 8.4 causing lag performance on many devices.

Thank you.

I am surprised you are under the impression you are able to update to an iOS8 platform and not 9.2.1- the iOS Apple is currently signing.

Too bad either way as your iPad is highly desirable with 6.1 and thus, more valuable.

^^^This.

Your choice is 6.1 or 9.2.1.

If you wanted iOS 8 there was a period of time where you could have updated to it, but since you didn't, you missed it altogether.

Thanks for replies!

Isn't it I can download the earlier IOS version on a lot of jailbreak websites then restore my ipad using itunes to the IOS version that I downloaded(the ipsw file)?

It will not work now?

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks.

It will not work. Apple has to sign the IPSW. If Apple is not signing the IPSW you cannot upgrade/downgrade to that IPSW.

The only IPSW for your iPad that Apple is signing is iOS 9.2.1.

I see.

Thanks for your advice, eyoungren and braddick.

By the way, is IOS 9.2.1 too heavy to load/run on ipad 4 causing lag?

Will you recommend me remain stay on 6.1?

I have an iPad 3 and my mom has an iPad 4. The latest version of iOS seems to run fine on her 4, but not so on my 3 (or my 5th gen iPod touch).
