Hi, I see around for a new storage option for the MacPro late 2013.
Now I have cMP 2010 12 core 3,33 and in the next days I change it with a MacPro late 2013.
In my cMP I have a PCIe blade Samsung 970 PRO NVMe for system and app and a storage with an RAID 0 set with 3 SSD Samsung 860 EVO in the originals bays linked via MaxUgrades kit at an Areca 1880i RAID card. The last bay is for a single disk for backup the boot disk.
Now, on new MacPro I have only one blade for system and I need an external storage that, if possible, increase the performance of my actual setup. Now I can see with AJA 1,6 read and 1,8 write GB/s with 4 GB file.
I have see the for example the
OWC Express 4 m2 4-slot M.2 Nvme SSD Enclosure
for make a RAID 0 set with 3 Samsung 970 PRO, linked at the MacPro with Thunderbolt 2 port.
Another option is a Thunderbolt/PCIe enclosure, the High Point 7101-A card and 3 Samsung 970 PRO in RAID 0 always linked via Thunderbolt.
Which of these option have the best performance and can saturated the Thunderbolt 2 bus on MacPro 6.1 or at least increase the actual performance? There is others solution that I have not considered?
Sorry for my English is not my primary language...and thanks for your answers.

If you ask me, the best raid solution for your new Mac Pro is a promise Pegasus r2 r6 raid. It offers blazing fast speed, tons of storage and thunderbolt expandability. I have two of these babies at home with 24tb and another two at a client’s office. For any video work that involves large amounts of data and requires super high speeds, they are the best, and most solid and safe solution.
I’ve had amazing experiences with the promise support over the years, even long after the devices ran out of warranty. I only had a single HDD failure during 6 years on them too and could simply hot swap a new one inside.

I personally use these products exclusively from Drobo.

Drobo 5C: https://www.drobo.com/storage-products/5C/
Drobo 5D3: https://www.drobo.com/storage-products/5C/

List of drives that have been tested and approved: https://www.drobo.com/storage-products/choose-drive/

Capacity Calculator: https://www.drobo.com/storage-products/capacity-calculator/

I've used their products since the beginning. I like that you can mix drive sizes (3.5" & 2.5") and capacity (1TB, 4TB, 8TB) all at the same time.

Omg please don’t advertise drobo.. they sound like a nice solution but I’ve owned the original 4 bay drobo and the drobo 5C and both of them have caused me SO much trouble and headaches over the years, I was so happy when I finally got rid of them!!!

First of all they are slow as hell. Nowhere near the performance of a Pegasus raid and completely unusable for serious video editing.
And secondly I’ve had a multitude of raid controller hickups which caused me to almost lose all my data at least on three different occasions over the years. What a nightmare product really. Support eventually helped me out but it took them weeks to do so!
