Hello,

At my place of business (small investment firm), we are touring investors next week and plan to hand out two iPads loaded with maps and documents we prepared.

What is the best way to keep them in sync/manage them? The current plan was to create two Apple IDs, setting each iPad with its own Apple ID. This way, we can log into the respective IDs from our computers and sync certain files that way via iCloud/files. This way, we would need two computers, each logged in with one of the Apple IDs we can drag files from the computers to the respective IDs/iCloud.

We want them to automatically have the files we want to share, but be able to take their notes and such.

Sorry, normally would have more time to research but not this time....

Thanks!

@sahni130 For files, maybe use a cloud storage option like dropbox or OneDrive, and sync it with the files app? This means that the iPads need not all use the same Apple ID.

Alternatively, the safest way may be go physical and simply hand each of them a folder with all the required materials printed out. No need to fumble with technology and worry that something might go wrong on that day. Personally, I would prefer this over opening and closing multiple documents on a smaller screen.

Bingo. This is the way!

2nd the old school technique - unless you know for sure that these users are going to be intimately familiar with the required workflows to edit data the way you want them to in an efficient manner. If not, you're forcing them to spend the time to learn a workflow for this one-off task just to get them to conform to your own workflow. Not ideal, but to each his own.

Sadly, this seems only like a manual process. Create aa "master" image on an iPad, back it up to computer, restore the image to the other iPad(s), then just manually keep them updated. Any changes you make to one, make sure to do it to the other.

There are software solutions that do this - schools, airlines, restaurants, etc do it all the time. But with just a week to set it up & the expense for only 2 iPads… the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.
