best way to manage user data?

i know i could manage it with network home folders and portable home directories, but iphoto and itunes do not work very well with this.

i was wondering if anyone could help me. i have a standard leopard server installed on a mac pro with plenty of HD space. i have several laptop clients though, some with not so much HD space.

let's say i'd like to have photos, music and videos on the server that are accessible on all the clients. would a web interface be the best? i've got the web server working (internal), and it works fine, but is there any open source photo sharing web apps that would be good for over 10 GBs of photos? and what about videos and music?
