Big Sur problem

Hey all

I'm running a Mac mini late 2012 with 12gig ram and a 250gig SSD. Have been running Catalina for a while but found a way to install Big sur. It ran fine with OS 11 but two problems 1. Apple music would not work and 2. WIFI would not turn on. Other then that there was no slow down of operation no sluggishness video played fine. All else was great.

I had to go back to Catalina. has anyone else had this happen?

Big Sur is not officially supported on that Mac Mini. You're probably having a Metal issue (hardware acceleration) as that machine only supports Metal 1 aka "legacy Metal". Did you try installing OCLP?

OCLP will probably correct the WiFi issue, but Apple Music is hit or miss.

Certain current Apple apps have a dependency on Metal 2 which will not work on your machine. This includes apps like Photos and Maps. However, Keynote still works on older machines so again it depends on what apps require Metal 2.

Some things can be mitigated, others cannot. I highly recommend the link below for workarounds.

Correction apparently I was just confused by the new look for the music APP. Its actually working fine. Still no go with the WIFI though. Having trouble figuring out how to download OCLP. went to the site but all I find is How to not actually he download page

The OCLP fixed the WIFI with just a reboot.
