When opening camera to take a photo, there is a blue dot above Live icon. It stays on whether live photo is disabled or not.

I also can't turn off Live permanently.

Thank you.

Can you show a screenshot of this blue dot?

If it's offset from the Live Photo icon, it might in fact be the green dot that indicates that the currently active app is using the camera.

Can't take the screenshot as it's part of the screen not part of the photo. But thanks for the answer.

Sorry I don't know the nomenclature. It's in the area where the other icons are: HDR, etc

A screenshot (not photo) will include that area of the screen as well. While you have the Camera app open, press and hold the power button and while doing so also press the home button to take a screenshot (I'm assuming you have the iPhone SE since you tagged that one).

The screen will flash, indicating that a screenshot was taken, and the screenshot will be saved in the Photos app. You can then share the screenshot here through the "Attach files" button. Make sure there's nothing in the viewfinder you don't want to share with the rest of the world when you take the screenshot.

Thanks Puonti, but when I take a screenshot the icon area at top still doesn't show.

As an aside, the light is definitively blue, not green

If it doesn't show up on a screenshot, then it means it's a defective LCD.

@mrputer All screenshots I take of the Camera viewfinder screen show the icons at the top of the screen, so based on what you've described here - and since you still have not shared a screenshot of the Camera viewfinder screen - I'm unfortunately at a loss as to what is going on.

Mine shows a Green Dot above the HDR icon instead. And turns to Yellow as i exit the Camera app.
