Well, never mind that auto manufacturers only need to pay a one-time fee to Apple to license CarPlay, and most other manufacturers don't charge a fee just to use CarPlay (going all the way down to Hyundai, Chevy, etc), but BMW has decided to switch from their $300 up-front CarPlay fee (already tasteless, IMO) to an $80 annual fee starting with their 2019 models.
