I loaded the Harper Collins book preview page and it works well. The site allows you to read the first two chapters of selected books which are formatted for the iPhone in landscape.

Anyone interested in reading science fiction can go to the Baen Free library. While not an iPhone app. it does seem to work pretty much as on a computer. There are more than 50 novels (ebooks) available for free by well known SF authors.

I thought I had heard about a year ago that Apple had purchased some thousands and thousands of electronic books .... am I imagining that ? At the time the speculation was that they could be uploaded to an iPod but now that iPhone is out ... ?

Sounds great, but

I love the idea of this harpercollins page, but the click here link on the page did not work from my i-phone. It works from my desktop. I hope they fix it, so I can try it out on the phone.
