iPhone XS Max Books shows only 2.2kb iCloud

Within my Books library / collection I have approximately 87 pdf files which don’t appear to be backing up into the iCloud. Would anyone know why this would be the case ?
They are not accessible from my iMac hence why I believe they are not being backed up.

In the books preferences, there is an option to ‘use iCloud Drive’ to sync PDFs.’ Is that selected?

I've never been able to get PDF files I add to iBooks to sync to iCloud. I just thought that was intentional. Every device I have to manually add them. <shrug>. I don't have too many. I do have MANY iCloud books but only a few books I've added from the Gutenberg project and a book I bought from O'Reilly. Never been able to get it to sync tho.

My Apple Books shows 36.7KB.

Cheers. The two books I have show up on the iMac but like you , none of the pdf docs.

But now that you mention it, I feel like I remember hearing that iBooks or books or what ever it is called now will not sync PDFs but that if you have the same lag on two devices in the same iCloud account that iCloud will sync your locations, etc between them. I could be way off and it’s been a long time since I’ve heard that so it could be completely out of date.

Thanks. I just gave up on it for now. I deleted all the PDFs from my collection and tried a few options to no avail.
