Borderlands 3 on M1 Max crashes, has hung my new 2021 16 inch MBP

So, finally got my new 16" M1 Max. borderlands 3 runs quite well on it, but has ended/crashed several times. the last time I played it, a short while ago, my computer hung, stopped responding to the keyboard, and I had to do a hard power off to get it to come back to life.

Anyone have any similar experiences? thanks in advance.

As a starter, try setting a custom fan curve to lower SoC temperature to rule out overheating.
