maybe in our heads..not on Apples... we should stop fooling ourselves...Apple has these prices for a long time ago
15Pro max starting with 256 base=price increased at least the price increase was only by $100
But every year the disparity between the price Apple pay for RAM and the price they charge us grows...

(While the requirement for larger amounts of RAM also continues to creep up. It's not by accident they put more and more RAM in iPhones...)

Actually it is Apple that will cry really hard, suffering from enormous sales plummet.
Apple will not start with 1T iphones, that user was ironic. Apple is not crying for decades and it will not cry for another one

I’m surprised nobody is commenting on the switch to QLC NAND, which has much worse lifespan. Maybe I should remind you that you can replace the battery as many times as you need, but you cannot replace the SSD.

Or maybe I’m the only one using an iPhone for 6 or 7 years…

QLC NAND is just a rumour, isn't it? It would be EXTREME penny pinching for Apple to stoop that low.

With iPhone sales dropping, Apple should keep the 128GB option open to keep prices as low as they can. I probably have an average amount of apps of a typical iPhone owner & still have over 73GB of storage unused on my 128GB 13 mini. I am opted in for the 2TB monthly iCloud subscription.

Anyone that thinks that low RAM and SSD amounts in Apple products "keep the prices low" have had the wool pulled over their eyes by Apple.

Why's it a "sketchy" rumour? It should have 256GB minimum anyway. Apple can afford the extra 50 cents it costs...
Let’s be real, they are simply deleting the $999 128gb pro and forcing everyone up to the $1099 256gb pro and not making the $999 price point 256gb.

I agree with this completely, unless it costs Apple more to manufacture 128GB v. 256GB, which of course is not true.

Either could happen, I didn't say otherwise. Realistically raising prices sadly seems likely.

There's not a chance they'll leave the $999 price and bump the storage to 256GB.
They'll do the same as they did with 15 Pro Max - they'll raise the price by making 256GB for $1099 as a base, starting price.

Can someone explain the "base configuration" issue? It's always such a hot button. Is it simply wanting more memory for the same price? If the base configuration were simply removed, the new base model would have more memory. So the only issue can be price. Or am I missing something?

No, reading the comments, I think I have it right. Seventh rule of purchasing: Get what you want and pay for it.
