bringing a jailbroken iphone in to an apple store?

i jailbroke my iphone.. everything was fine then all of the sudden it wont start.. the silver apple comes up when i plug the phone in to the wall or the computer... i finally got it in to recovery mode, but it wont complete the restore, i get a 1604 error. I want to bring it in to the apple store (hopefully they will swap it out)....but will they be able to see that the phone was jailbroken? will that void my warranty?..any help would be appreciated =]
