Brother MCF scan button not working

I have os 10.5 and brother mfc 465cn. The scan button on the printer will not communicate with my macbook via network. It worked before I had to do a reinstall of osx. When I had it working before I did so buy using some advice I found on a site via google. The site had me move some files to the trash. Now I cannot find the site or remember what files to remove. Anyone heard of this site or what files to remove. It worked like a charm before the reinstall. Yes I've done all the updates via brother and even had brother on the phone today and they said it was a router issue. I have not changed anything on the router ever.
