Can FaceTime be used without an Apple ID on iPhones?

iMessage definitely can be used without an Apple ID. I think FaceTime, too, works without one on iPhones, but I'm not 100% sure.

Wikipedia says it does:

Did somebody test this? Is somebody using FaceTime regularly without an Apple ID?

Would be great to get more information on this.

I would have the person that wrote the wiki info call me and prove it.

It works. I could add an Apple ID for additional functionality and reachability via email address(es), but that's optional.

Imma call the Wikipedia guy now.
