MP 6,1 Can I connect a 2018 Mac Pro to an Apple Studio Display?

Hello everyone,

I have a Mac Pro (2018) https://appleinsider.com/inside/2018-mac-pro and I just purchased an Apple Studio Display and I would like to connect the two. The problem is that officially this appears to not be supported.

I was thinking I could use an adapter from the Studio Display Thunderbolt 3 to the Mac Pro Thunderbolt 2

Welcome
There is no 2018 Mac Pro. What counts is the date it was first revealed/released - so it's always referred to as the Mac Pro (Late) 2013. Or "trash can Mac Pro" in certain circles.
There are lots of threads here regarding this exact question.
Long story short, it does somewhat work but not at full 5K resolution and 60Hz. So yes, you can connect it but miss out on the full potential of the display.

With a workaround (Open Core bootloader with Kryptonite) you can unlock eGPU support for the (Thunderbolt 2) Mac Pro 2013 and then use an external graphics card (must support Displayport 1.4) to drive the Studio Display at 5K@60 with one single cable.
With this adapter/cable you could even feed the USB data part into the USB-C connector:

If you can get a BlackMagic eGPU or Sonnet eGPU Breakaway Puck 5500XT/5700 to work with the Mac Pro 2013 then you can get full 5K60 and USB 10 Gbps speed.
A normal eGPU will limit you to USB 2.0 speed (when you use a DisplayPort to USB-C cable that includes USB 2.0 or if you have a GPU with a USB-C port).

I would check the builds lists at https://eGPU.io for examples of the Mac Pro 2013 with an eGPU.
