i have an IMAP account and when i am conected to EDGE it obviously goes slower but has no problems sending mail. when i am conected to wifi it gives me the error messeage: "could not connect to server smtp.usc.edu" i dont understand why, any help would be great

sometimes internet providers like comcast, etc prohibit using smtp servers outside of their own... so for instance, if you are on a comcast connection, you may have to use smtp.comcast.net instead of your usc one... this is a possibility, however, i have comcast and my email mail.____.com as an smtp seems to be working on both my wifi and edge, although it made me enter a username/password in my smtp settings whereas normally i don't have to... that might be something else to try

ok thanks. i think i am doing something wrong with the outgoing server, but i have an idea of how to fix it
