So I'm trying to format my OS drive and reinstall my OS to Sierra, and I can't erase the drive even in internet recovery mode.

When I try to erase my SSD, it says

Erasing APFS Volume File Content
An internal error has occurred,
Operation failed.

No matter what format I try to erase the drive to, it doesn't work. First aid fails too.

How do I erase this drive? Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks

OP:

Do this:
1. Download the LoSierra installer.
2. Create a bootable USB flashdrive (with the installer on it) using either "DiskmakerX", "Install Disk Creator", or the terminal.
3. Boot from the USB flashdrive/installer
4. Go to disk utility and re-initialize the internal drive.
5. Do a clean install of LoSierra
6. Update as needed.
