I'm trying to replace the folder icon in El Capitan, but even after switching to root, I can't remove the GenericFolderIcon.icns file. This must be the "rootless" feature where even the root user can't do certain things. I can see Apple getting a lot of flak for this if it is not possible to disable it.
This code in All The Little Things didn't work for me.
Running
returns
which shows that the rootless argument is set to false. But if I check it in Disk Utility, it still says it is enabled.
If someone knows anything about allowing root to become powerful again, please tell me.
