I’m attaching a photo.

I was able to open AltStore earlier today and said that my apps were expired and now I can’t even open the app.

i also tried to retail break using the uncover app but for the past few days deemed there was an error and couldn’t perform the jailbreak.

now it seems I can’t get the jailbreak back and am considering just giving up and updating to 13.5.1

Just delete the AltStore and U0 app. Then run AltStore again on your PC. Plug your phone into the PC. Right click the Alstore icon and chose your device. Sign in with your Apple ID and once it’s on your phone, trust it in your general settings. Then download U0 from the AltStore app, then you can JB. After you have Cydia up, you should download ReProvision to automatically sign Alstore and U0 for you so they don’t expire.

There is nothing in your case that cannot be fixed. Its a just a matter of a few trials. Dont update. Also, update to the latest uncover 5.2. Delete both uncover and altstore and try from scratch the way you did before the jailbreak.
