Can't install Panther - Just get No entry Sign!!

I am trying to load Panther on my G4 PowerMac and when I boot up from the Panther install disc 1 it just spins and I get a no entry sign come up???

Can anyone tell me why!!!

Duff-Man says...can you please be more specific about your hardware...tell us which G4 - speed, ram etc etc...without knowing all the specifics it is more difficult to assist but the first thing that may come to mind is to check for any fiormware updates, especially if it is an early G4....also, is it a retail Panther disc, a restore disc meant for another model Mac, or something you have "acquired" elsewhere (in which case you won't get much help here)..... oh yeah!

sounds like either : iffy disk , iffy hard disk or a bad copy ? but will need more info about your Mac
