I fired up my 2019 16-in intel MacBook Pro's bootcamp this weekend after a long time. The one update that's not going through Is the Windows 10 22h2 update. It keeps giving a "We couldn't complete the updates..." error.
I tried some troubleshooting I found online such as going into safe boot and deleting the software distribution files. I might have tried one other thing. But no luck.
But I came across a post that gives a walkthrough on how to get to Windows 11 on an Intel Mac. And now I'm just wondering if I should just try to do windows 11 on this machine with this runaround instead of figuring out how to get 22H2 working for Windows 10.
However, I'm worried about a few things:
1) Will I be able to do the update to Windows 11 with a Windows 10 that's not on 22H2?
2) never had an activated Windows 10, it just had the background wallpaper saying to activate, but I never did. Will Windows 11 work the same, or will I actually have to go out and buy an activation key for that?
3) Do I need to designate enough space for my partition? I only have 130 GB set for boot camp. And I can't remember if I can easily change that without having to do a reinstall or anything.

You could download the Windows 10 22H2 ISO and use it to upgrade.
https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10ISO
The page is about preview ISOs, but it should work the same on the release version.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-insider/isos
“In-place upgrade with a ISO
- Open File Explorer and go to where you saved the ISO. Select the ISO file to open it, which lets Windows mount the image so you can access it.
- Select the setup.exe file to launch the install process.
- During setup, select the Keep Windows settings, personal files, and apps option.”

Thanks for the reply. What actually did it for me was the advice given to me in the Bootcamp subreddit when I made this same post there:

If the Windows 10 22H2 update doesn't work from Windows Update, do it manually with the tool from

Windows 11 has hardware necessities like TPM 2.0 to be installed, many older mac's don't have it. My 2014 and 2018 MacMini's don't have it...but there are patch workarounds out now to install Windows 11 if you need. Personally, I'm satisfied with Windows 10.

no Macs support TPM 2.0.
